The History Behind Barbie

Barbara is the name that was used as an inspiration to call the Barbie doll. The woman who invented Barbie named this doll after her daughter Barbara Handler in 1959. The world acquired this invention warmly as Ruth Handler offered it in a fair in New York City. Originally, Ruth had created this doll to be a trend statement for teenage girls and this is the way it all began. Ruth who was the lady who invented this doll co-founded Mattel toy company and since those early years, the Barbie doll has become known world over making the inventor probably the most recognized toy maker in the kids world.

The woman who invented Barbie may have acquired great returns however her life was not all rosy. She suffered breast cancer and later had a breast removed. Her story is that of creation and invention because she additionally inspired the creation of Nearly Me prosthetic breasts. She couldn't discover a replacement that would match her. Since the creation of Barbie, many ladies and girls have become fond of it and many have had their youth formed by this exciting doll. Mattel was the company that saw the dream of Barbie realized.

Ruth, who died in 2002, was known to have acquired the inspiration for the name from her daughter Barbara, however for the doll design, she received inspiration elsewhere. It is said that Bild Lilli, a German doll, was the real inspiration behind the figure of the Barbie. With her toy company, they had been capable of challenge the thought accordingly and supply Americans at the time, a good idea that was widely bought. Barbie has not been without controversy and there are numerous lawsuits that have been launched by many people who question the approach to life of this fashion doll.

The woman who was behind Barbie was really inspired by the task of adult roles by her daughter to infant toys. In other words, her daughter was more fascinated by dolls that had been older or had an adult body and because of this; Ruth cited the creation of this trend doll. Her husband was not for the thought at first and as a co-owner of Mattel Toy Firm, this was not very convincing to him and to the directors. Nevertheless, inspired by the German Bild lilli adult doll, she articulated this idea on the beliefs that the adult doll presented. In the beginning, Barbie was sold to adults but it surely became popular with kids as time went on.

Ruth, together with her company Mattel, halted the production of the German Bild lilli doll by acquiring the rights to the doll. With this monopoly of sought, the stage was set and the Barbie thrived as a singular product that redefined trend dolls for teens and children. Youngsters loved dressing the doll with clothes that would come separately. The unique Barbie doll was available in a swimsuit that had black and white stripes like a zebra. There were brunette and blonde options for the doll. According to Mattel, three Barbie dolls are sold per second.
